On Sunday 17th October 2010 approx 20 air cadets spent four hours fund-raising at Morrisons supermarket by bag packing. They raised 1,069.00 in total. Their leader, Flt. Lt. Ivan Caward from No. 2 Overseas (Gibraltar) Sqn, organised the event along with Kerrie Edwards and Fiona McClenaghan. We would like to express our gratitude to all of them. The money is going entirely to the vet clinic as we owe them a hefty sum.  Below is a photo of the cadets taken on the day and a note that is going to be published in the Chronicle in due course.

Article to appear in The Chronicle-

The Gibraltar Air Cadets answered a plea for help last week when the Cat Welfare Society approached them to help with a Charity Bag Pack at Morrisons, to raise desperately needed funds for the charity. The cadets willingly gave up their Sunday to help customers of the store pack their shopping and helped raise an incredible 1069.00 in just four hours!
The Cat Welfare Society have an ongoing programme caring for sick and injured stray cats, re homing abandoned domestic cats and running an ongoing stray neutering programme. The cost of the food and medication to continue the work they do runs into thousands each year and the charity face a year on year struggle to find enough funds to cover these expenses. The Air Cadets support really did come at just the right time and they will soon be visiting the cat sanctuary to see just how their funding support helps the charity continue their valuable work.

To the Shuman Animal Welfare Trust who have awarded us a grant to the sum of 1,250.00.
To the GSPCA Gibraltar for kindly having paid our bill at the vet for the cats that we are sending to Mijas. These cats are the ones being left at the Gibraltar Veterinary Clinic for re homing, unfortunately not all are re homed, so we are sending them to the Mijas sanctuary called PAD where many are re homed abroad and along the Spanish coast to ex-pats. Before these cats are taken over we have to make sure they are neutered, inoculated, micro-chipped and have their Rabies injection, hence the bill at the clinic.

To the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust who have kindly awarded us a grant to the sum of 1,500 as support for neutering feral cats and for running the sanctuary.

To the Animal Defence Trust who have awarded us a grant to the sum of 500.00.

To Claudio D'Ascenzi for donating 300 Euros to go towards the renewal of the sanctuary insurance policy.

To Liz MacDonald for donating 500 Euros to go towards the purchase of a new door for the sanctuary.

To student Joseanne Bear of FLIP for raising 250.00 to go towards caring for the sanctuary cats. Joseanne and her family homed 'Jackie' a beautiful female Tabby from us and gave her a wonderful home.
