The dedication involved.

Taking care of all the cats and kittens is a daily routine which can never be ignored. Most of the volunteers have their own set days for going to the sanctuary and attending to it's needs.

The first thing to be done is to buy all the cat food and sawdust that will be required for that day and deliver it to the sanctuary. Next thing is the cleaning of the sanctuary. Every alternate night the sanctuary is fully cleaned and this involves emptying all the litter trays cleaning them and refilling with sawdust the sanctuary is then disinfected and moped out.

The cats are then fed. The feeding regime has to be done in stages. First the cats who prefer wet food are fed then they are all put in a large pen until the cats that prefer dry food are fed. All the water bowls also have to be refilled with clean fresh water. Then it is the turn of the cats that are in ill health to be fed, then finally it is the turn of the kittens who have their own pens because they are to young to be with the other cats as yet.  There is also medication and flea treatment to be given out.

The next night involves removing any matter from the litter trays, feeding the cats, changing their water bowls and giving medication etc. Then the next night a full clean would be done again as so forth. Sometimes the volunteers will not leave the sanctuary until about 23.00 hours because of all the work that has to be done.  It should be remembered that the sanctuary is usually always full because no cat or kitten is ever turned away.

A lot of help is given to the charity by the Ministry of Defence in Gibraltar for which the charity is grateful for.  Apart from helping with fundraising they also get involved with carrying out necessary repairs to the sanctuary.  Six serving 'Sappers' within Gibraltar have adopted the society as their charity project.

The charity would also like to say thanks to all at the Rosia Bay Veterinary Clinic. Your helpfulness and kindness is greatly valued and appreciated by the society.

The charity would like to express their gratitude to a young man called Tony Thomas.  He flew out to Gibraltar for a week in January solely with the aim to build new pens for the sanctuary.  He has now finished this task.
